My Waste app to make household waste and recycling easier

A new waste and recycling mobile device application (app) that has been used in many towns and cities across Australia and the world will now be available to ACT residents, making it easier to manage household waste and recycling, Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury, announced.

Changes to parking along Anketell Street

The Economic Development Directorate wishes to advise that on-street parking along both sides of Anketell Street (opposite Bunnings) will be restricted from Monday 17 March 2014. Nominees sought for ACT Ministerial Advisory Council on Women

Nominations are being sought for membership of the 2014-2016 ACT Ministerial Advisory Council on Women.

The Council plays a key role in assisting the Government develop and implement policies to advance the status of women, and is a valuable link between ACT women and the ACT Government.

Nominations are invited from individual women and representatives of women’s organisations and peak bodies in the ACT who are able to demonstrate commitment to the advancement of women; a sound knowledge of the interests and concerns of ACT women and girls; and an ability to consult and represent on a wide range of women’s issues.

Women from varied age groups and diverse backgrounds including women with disabilities, women from culturally diverse backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are encouraged to nominate.

Nominations close on 31 March 2014.

The Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs (OATSIA) is pleased to announce the opportunity for ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals to apply for once-only financial support to encourage greater participation of ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the community.

The Leadership, Cultural and Scholarship grants aim to promote cultural diversity and social harmony for ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and support the development of capability and cultural competence within the ACT community. The grants encourage and support ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to study and ultimately be employed in the local sector.

OATSIA will accept applications until 12 noon Tuesday, 8 April 2014. Late applications will not be considered.

Development of land in Braddon and Reid

The Community Services Directorate (CSD) would like to invite interested members of the community to an information session on the development of land in Braddon and Reid. The information session will be held at the Griffin Centre in Genge Street, Braddon.

The land in Braddon is occupied by Currong Apartments, Allawah Court and buildings owned by the Catholic Church. The land in Reid is occupied by Bega Court. The purpose of the information session is to update the community about the recent Territory Plan Variation and proposals for moving forward.
