PLAYER OF THE WEEK: ERIKA TYMRAK
FC Kansas City forward's goal, assist earn her first POW honor

(July 23, 2013) – FC Kansas City forward Erika Tymrak was voted the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the media for Week 15 of the 2013 NWSL season.

Tymrak, 21, had a goal and an assist for FC Kansas City in a 2-0 victory over Seattle Reign FC on Saturday at Verizon Wireless Field in Overland Park, Kan.

The Bradenton, Fla. native intercepted a pass from Reign midfielder Megan Rapinoe and dribbled 25 yards into space before sending a cross-field pass to set up Lauren Holiday for the U.S. international’s 10th goal of the season to give the Blues a 1-0 advantage in the 39th minute.

The University of Florida product then secured all three points for the Blues in the 86th minute when she collected a pass from Jen Buczkowski near the left sideline and cut inside to beat three defenders before unleashing a low, curling shot past Seattle goalkeeper Hope Solo from the edge of the box.

It was Tymrak’s sixth goal of the season – and fourth in the last six games – to move her into a four-way tie for fourth in the league.

FC Kansas City will return to action Wednesday, July 24 at 8:35 p.m. ET against the Boston Breakers at Verizon Wireless Field in Overland Park, Kan.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
