Has Teddy Duncan taught her baby sister Charlie everything she needs to know? Disney seems to think so. The network revealed last night that the fourth season of Good Luck Charlie will be the comedy’s last.
“‘That’s a wrap’ will be called on the production after four years with creators/executive producers Phil Baker and Drew Vaupen and executive producer Dan Staley,” a rep for Disney said in a statement. “The cast and crew are superb and we will look forward to the big finale episode the creative team is planning.”
Charlie debuted in April 2010 with a premiere that drew 4.69 million viewers, making it that week’s most-watched cable program. It hit its ratings peak in December 2011 with Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas, a TV movie that drew an audience of 8.3 million.
Season 4 premiered to a still-healthy 3.9 million viewers, indicating that the show’s wrapping probably isn’t due to dwindling audience numbers. Instead, this cancellation is in keeping with Disney’s habit of cutting off series once they near the 100-episode mark, which ensures a future in syndication. Two of the net’s biggest hits, Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place, got similar conclusions in 2011 and earlier this year, respectively.
