On The Books: James Frey inks new book-movie deal

James Frey is the latest author to score a book-movie deal thanks to his new novel, Endgame. The screen deal reportedly falls somewhere in the realm of $2 million to $2.5 million, with Frey controlling the screenplay.

Need some good library news? Sunday hours were recently restored at the Los Angeles Public Library, as well as nine of the 72 branches, the first time that full hours have been available to the public since 2010, when budget cuts forced shutdowns on Sundays and Mondays. [LA Times]

The TS Eliot Prize for Poetry has been awarded Sinéad Morrissey, who was shortlisted three times before her win. Morrissey is Belfast’s inaugural poet laureate and beat out two other previous winners for the award. [Telegraph]

Canadian author Alice Munro, who was unable to participate in her Nobel Prize commemoration ceremony in Sweden, will join Symphony Space via a Google Hangout with her friend, fellow author Margaret Atwood. The event will feature readings of Munro’s stories. [ArtsBeat]
