A computer such as this one is being offered to a good home.

Happy New Year, everyone!Seasonal generosity remains at the forefront and we’ll pass on these requests to you:

Dear Help!: Can you help me find a charity or other facility for a never-out-of-the-box computer I purchased in February of 2011? (It is a) Dell Inspiron 580, Intel Core i3-550 processor, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB hard drive, Windows 7, keyboard, 20-inch flat screen monitor, Dell optical mouse, Logitech L81 speakers, Dell wireless printer V313w (prints, copies, scans) and even a dial-up connection, if needed. I am especially partial to animal, children's, veterans’ and homeless agencies.

— Melbourne

This is a nice computer, friends. If you’re involved with a charitable organization that can use it, let us know and we’ll contact the donor.

Here’s one that concerns two favorite subjects around here, fabric and greeting cards:

Dear Help!: Are there any groups that would benefit from receiving used greeting cards?

I have a ton of cards and hate to discard them if they can be utilized.

Also, my mother (who is 100 years old) has a ton of fabric that I would like to donate. Most of it is heavyweight, probably good for drapes, etc.

— Cocoa

Job one is to send greetings to your mother, Kay. God bless her.

Our list of people or organizations that accept greeting cards for use in art classes or for other projects requires frequent updating, so if you’re interested in taking Kay’s cards, please let us know. It’s likely that other readers will ask the same question in coming weeks, too.

As far as the fabric is concerned, you know the drill. Give us a shout.

Here’s one that adds information to that item about the Melbourne Public Library and its on-site predecessor, Nick’s Steakhouse:

Dear Help!: In regard to the restaurant that used to be at the current location of the Melbourne Beach library, I seem to remember there being a place called Peg Leg’s in that spot, long before Nick's. (It offered) home-style cooking with a varied menu of goodies to include seafood, of course. Hated to see it leave. It relocated for a short time to Satellite Beach (and) raised the prices from what they were at the original restaurant, which may have led to its demise.

More on that next time, but one more question for you, readers: What’s your favorite restaurant (besides Cracker Barrel) that serves great country ham biscuits? Ken Dickinson wants to know.
