After flying into “an angry rage” because his sister removed his camera from his room, a 23-year-old Canaveral Groves man set her bed on fire Sunday morning, causing about $10,000 in damage to their mobile home, officials said today.

Xavious Andre Rhynes was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with arson and marijuana possession.

Firefighters converged on the blaze about 11:25 a.m. on East Railroad Avenue in Canaveral Groves, said Lee Nessel, Brevard County Fire Rescue spokeswoman. The home is just north of Canaveral Groves Boulevard, on the east side of the railroad tracks.

Deputies said Rhynes threatened to burn his sister’s bedroom, ignited her bed, and exited the back door of the home.

Rhynes’ father, Victor, used a garden hose to extinguish the flames before firefighters arrived on scene, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Flames scorched the mattress, box spring, clothing and a wall. Smoke damaged most of the ceiling and walls inside the trailer, reports show.
