Legendary Terrier Vincent O'Connor

If you have a hard time remembering St. Francis Prep without football coach Vincent O'Connor, that's because he's been pacing the Terriers' sideline for the last 59 years. On Sunday, the Queens high school will be dedicating a new physical education center named after the coach, so we've decided to celebrate the occasion with some of our best shots of him.

In November 1966, Robert F. Kennedy was campaigning for his Senate seat when his motorcade passed by the St. Francis Prep Terriers on the practice field. Perhaps figuring that rubbing elbows with one of the city's top coaches was a good way to win the popular vote, Kennedy steps out of his limo and joins Vincent O'Connor on the sideline.
