K-base 2.0 is a collaborative rich media webcasting service designed for corporate training, academic learning, and online education. Momindum offers solutions for presentation capturing, rich media authoring, content development, editing, collaborative knowledge sharing, rich media publishing, and knowledge broadcasting. With K-base 2.0, users can access rich media content so they can share video, take notes, access relevant video, ask the trainer questions, discuss ideas in a forum, and use and receive content through their mobile phones. Momindum K-base 2.0 uses Deep Tagging, a video editing technology that enables users to select an instant of the video and tag it.

 Thunderhead, an enterprise communications company, announced the release of the NOW Context Engine, a new component of Thunderhead NOW 4.0 platform. The NOW Context Engine is a XML repository designed to archive document and correspondence content. The new module will integrate directly with existing customer information systems. The NOW Context Engine will also form the core of Thunderhead’s new analytic and management information functionality. Communication data stored in the Context Engine will be available to various analytical tools, including Thunderhead’s Analyze NOW components. Thunderhead also announced that it had entered into a strategic OEM agreement with IBM to embed its DB2 pure XML solution in the NOW Context Engine.

 Yammer, a micro-blogging tool for enterprises, launched at the TechCrunch50 conference. This "Enterprise 2.0" startup allows companies and organizations to take advantage of a technology like Twitter. On Yammer, co-workers exchange short frequent answers to the question: "What are you working on?" As employees answer this question, a company feed is created in one central location. The company feed can be accessed in real-time via the web, IM, SMS text messaging, an iPhone application, a Blackberry application, a desktop application, or email. Yammer also serves as a company directory in which every employee has a profile and as a knowledge-base where past conversations are archived. Yammer ensures the privacy of each network by limiting access to those with a valid company email address.

 PlanDone, a Web 2.0 project collaboration software company, launched the full version of its software of the same name. Teams at small-medium sized businesses can manage their projects with PlanDone’s web-based software. PlanDone is also mobile friendly, allowing users to manage projects on an iPhone, Blackberry, or Palm device. Features include: MyTop10 Priorities, a page of tasks that uses a priority ranking system; MyTimeline, a page that allows users to view their schedule and upcoming deadlines by date; and MyTasks Dashboard, a dashboard that allows users to see all of the tasks they own and are sharing with others with notifications of progress and status.

Interwoven, Inc. also announced that Discovery Communications is using Interwoven’s Web Solutions to power PlanetGreen.com, the online counterpart of Discovery’s Planet Green television network launched this summer. Interwoven’s technology enables Discovery to add comments, hosted forums, and discussion groups to PlanetGreen.com.

 Nexicon, a provider of next generation digital rights management and digital media intelligence solutions, announced an agreement with YouTube. Under the terms of the agreement, Nexicon will serve as a third party intermediary between copyright owners and YouTube to provide content identification and monitoring services to copyright owners using YouTube's Content Management System. Under the terms of the agreement, Nexicon will monitor media owners' copyrighted material by using YouTube's video identification technology to claim and monetize the content or remove it from the site.

 UpdatePower Corporation announced multiple agreements with LexisNexis, a member of Reed Elsevier and provider of information services and solutions, to deliver executive content for both private and public companies with automated updating capabilities. UpdatePower will provide LexisNexis with services to deliver profiles on executives and company analysis through the LexisNexis family of products. The neural mappings to these companies creates a company network which enables the UpdatePower automated platform to filter, track, and verify changes in the companies as they are occur, supporting company and executive verification.

 EMC Corporation, IBM, and Microsoft Corp. announced a jointly developed specification that uses web services and Web 2.0 interfaces to enable applications to interoperate with multiple Enterprise Content Management (ECM) repositories by different vendors. The companies intend to submit the Content Management Interoperability Services specification to OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards) for advancement through its standards development process. EMC, IBM, and Microsoft worked together to define an interface that is designed to work over existing repositories, de-couples web services and content from the content management, provides common web services and Web 2.0, and supports composite application development and mash-ups by the business.

 ABBYY, provider of recognition, data capture, and linguistic technologies, announced that it has formed a partnership with Pixily, a company that helps people aggregate, organize, and find their documents. The ABBYY FineReader Engine SDK delivers a tool to integrate OCR, barcode recognition, and PDF conversion functions into applications running on Linux, as well as the Mac, and Windows operating systems. The SDK provides a wide range of document recognition functions to integrate into a variety of applications including word processors, scanning, archiving, search, and document and information management.

 Google, Inc. announced that it is launching an initiative to make more old newspapers accessible and searchable online by partnering with newspaper publishers to digitize millions of pages of news archives. In 2006, Google started working with publications like the New York Times and the Washington Post to index existing digital archives and make them searchable via the Google News Archive. Now partners such as ProQuest and Heritage have joined in the initiative.

Safari Books Online, a provider of on-demand digital libraries for technology and business professionals, announced that it has expanded its collection of books from SitePoint, a media company focused on designers, developers, and creative professionals. Included in these new offerings are SitePoint’s reference books: The Ultimate HTML Reference, by Ian Lloyd; and The Ultimate CSS Reference, by Tommy Olssen and Paul O’Brien. All of the content was put on SitePoint’s website prior to the books’ publication.
