Four Doors On The Sly: The New Aston Martin Rapide S

This story appears in the October 28, 2013 issue of Forbes Life.

The new Aston Martin Rapide S blends the British marque’s famously lethal aggression (James Bond, anyone?) with the elegance of a classic European Gran Turismo. This is the car made for cruising through snow-packed Alps prepped for a winter weekend with skis, leather-bound luggage and three of your coolest friends.

In fact, the four-seat V-12 is designed so well that its front end screams close kinship with the Vantage and Virage super sports coupes while its angled doors blend perfectly into the gracious curves of the side body and rear of the sedan. At first glance you could be forgiven for thinking the car had only two doors rather than four.

Drive the Rapide S and the balance between stealth and speed continues: Silent inside and smooth on liftoff, the car seems to accelerate exponentially as your foot presses the pedal. Credit its 558-horsepower engine and lightweight body for the 4.9-second, 0-60 mph sprint time. Credit its upper-crust bloodlines for the exotic wood-and-leather interior and silver door plaques.

MSRP: $202,000. Prices increase exponentially with additional options.
