The AIDSTAR-One/Dominican Republic Team
AIDSTAR-One/Dominican Republic is implementing a nationwide grants program to support 12 non-governmental organization (NGO) activities focused on HIV prevention, treatment, and/or care programs. Target populations for the grants include most-at-risk populations, specifically people living with HIV, orphans and vulnerable children, male and female sex workers, men who have sex with men, and other vulnerable populations, including youth, clients of sex workers, residents of bateyes (sugar cane plantations), mobile populations, and persons engaging in transactional sex. In addition to supporting local NGOs through its grants program, AIDSTAR-One is also providing technical and institutional strengthening support to each NGO grantee and facilitating programmatic coordination between governmental health facilities and non-governmental organizations.
