UNAIDS Policy Forum on HIV, Human Rights, and People Who Inject Drugs

 

 

On September 21st, 2010, UNAIDS and 11 other partner organizations hosted a forum in Washington, D.C. The purpose of this event was to advance innovations in HIV prevention and care for people who inject drugs through enhanced, energized, and synchronized global policy action.

Global Panel: Best Practices and Current Challenges (3 parts)

Panelists:

  • Pavlo Smyrnov, MPH, Deputy Executive Director, International AIDS Alliance, Ukraine;
  • Vuong Thi Huong Thu, MBA, MPH, Program Manager, Drug Use Interventions Unit, Family Health International, Vietnam; and
  • Dr. Jessie Mbwambo, Program Coordinator for the PEPFAR funded Tanzania AIDS Prevention Program (TAPP), Tanzania.

The panel was moderated by Repsina Chintalova-Dallas, Prevention Officer, AIDSTAR-One.

Panelists:

  • Phil Terry, CEO and Executive Director, Prevention Works;
  • Nestor Rocha, Bureau Chief of Prevention and Intervention Services, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD, and TB Administration (HAHSTA); and
  • Warren W. Hewitt, M.S., HIV/AIDS Coordinator for the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT).
