Nine Inch Nails Fans Will Be Surprised By This Album

3 September 2013 11:50 AM, PDT

Nine Inch Nails, "Hesitation Marks" (Columbia)

Sun-kissed harmonies, funk-flecked guitar lines and – whisper it – a saxophone workout all make an appearance on "Hesitation Marks," a surprising new offering from Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails after a lengthy, self-imposed hiatus.

In the five years since the industrial rockers' last album, the 48-year old Reznor has won an Academy Award for his soundtrack work on "The Social Network," married musician Mariqueen Maandig and become a father to two young boys. These developments are apparent in the makeup of "Hesitation Marks," where chinks of light occasionally penetrate the darkness so prevalent on the band's previous releases.

"Wish me well - I've become something else (just as well, really)" sings the front man on the surprisingly poppy track "Everything," which has spawned a fan-made video of Reznor riding a white unicorn in front of a rainbow. Elsewhere, the falsetto-vocals and staccato guitar line of "All Time Low, »

Khloe Kardashian Tweets That She Wishes She Were Made Of Steel

3 September 2013 11:47 AM, PDT

Khloe Kardashian has been trying to put on a brave face in the wake of her marital problems with Lamar Odom.

Following reports the NBA player has been struggling with drug addiction, Odom was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Los Angeles on Aug. 30 and lost his license for one year as a result of refusing chemical testing.

After Odom's arrest, Kardashian didn't make a statement, but continued to post photos to her social media accounts as though nothing had taken place. Many of the 29-year-old's fans were confused as to why she was posting selfies on Instagram right after her husband's arrest.

On Sunday, Khloe broke her silence by tweeting:

As much as I wish I were made of steel... I'm not

— KhloéKardashianOdom (@KhloeKardashian) September 1, 2013

I'm pretty damn close to it though hehe

It's Reportedly Over For Rosie Huntington-Whiteley And Jason Statham

3 September 2013 11:42 AM, PDT

According to reports, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jason Statham have split.

Sources tell the Daily Mail that the couple, who have been together since 2010, are "on a break" as they figure out where their relationship is going. Insiders add that the 19-year age gap between Huntington-Whiteley, 26, and Statham, 45, might be a reason for the "trial separation."

Rumors swirled that Statham was set to propose to the model-turned-actress, but it sounds like their romance has fizzled out.

In the October issue of Elle U.K., Huntington-Whiteley opens up about Statham, admitting, "Many models are in long-term relationships for stability. Admittedly, not always with great men, but it gives them something to come home to, something grounding. That’s how I see my relationship."

The Huffington Post has reached out to Huntington-Whiteley and Statham's reps for a comment. »

Photos: Couple Takes The Disney Theme A Little Too Far

3 September 2013 11:36 AM, PDT

There's a reason why they say Disney fans are the best, and that reason is because they have some serious dedication to the brand. And if you needed any proof of that, just check out Len and Laurel Testa's midcentury home, which after a year of remodeling, now has a Space Mountain and Disney Cruise theme.

According to Boing Boing, when the two bought the North Carolina house it already had a "retro-future" vibe, so they thought it would be perfect to incorporate their love for Disney, because, why not?

When you walk into their kitchen you'll find Space Mountain's post-show scene, right down to the banquette, Led lighting and the ice bucket and water bottle centerpieces. In their bathrooms, you'll see their interpretation of the Senses Spa on Disney Cruise Line's ship, with wall tiling almost identical to that found in the actual space.

We had to admit, we »

More Details About Electric Zoo Death Revealed

3 September 2013 11:11 AM, PDT

A University of New Hampshire student, one of two people who died at the Electric Zoo festival in New York City over the weekend, allegedly had multiple hits of "molly" before her death.

The New York Post reported 20-year-old Olivia Rotondo told emergency workers that she "took six hits of molly" before she collapsed into a seizure on Saturday, Aug. 31. Molly is the powder or crystal form of Mdma, a chemical used in ecstasy. Despite its seemingly innocent handle, the drug can be dangerous and interfere with the body's ability to regulate temperature, resulting in liver, kidney and cardiovascular failure.

Rotondo was taken to Metropolitan Hospital at 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 31 and was pronounced dead 45 minutes later, according to The New York Times.

Jeffrey Russ, a 23-year-old Syracuse University graduate, also died following Saturday's show. His aunt told the Post the family was told he had taken ecstasy. Police »

All Oscar Roads Lead Here

3 September 2013 11:00 AM, PDT

The roads taken to the Academy Awards are many, but they usually run through Toronto.

Every best picture winner since 2007 has played at the Toronto International Film Festival, from "No Country for Old Men" to last year's winner, "Argo." While other late summer festivals like Telluride can claim to have been first with many Oscar winners, Toronto is the largest, most expansive launch pad of the fall movie-going season.

This year's festival, a 10-day affair beginning Thursday with the premiere of the WikiLeaks drama "The Fifth Estate," with Benedict Cumberbatch as Julian Assange, promises to be no different. There are 146 feature films making their world premiere, including the highly anticipated adaptation of Tracy Letts' Pulitzer Prize-winning play "August: Osage County," with Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts; "Dallas Buyers Club," with Matthew McConaughey as an industrious Texan diagnosed in the `80s with HIV; and the kidnapping drama "Prisoners," with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal. »

One Of The Year's Best Debuts

3 September 2013 10:48 AM, PDT

-- Ariana Grande, "Yours Truly" (Republic Records)

While Miley Cyrus is being a wild child to demonstrate she is growing up, Ariana Grande is letting her music do all the talking.

The 20-year-old singer-actress, one of the stars of Nickelodeon's "Victorious" and the network's spinoff "Sam and Cat," is in near-perfect form on her debut, mainly thanks to her Mariah Carey-esque vocals and songs written by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds.

"Yours Truly" kicks off with the R&B-flavored, near-6 minute "Honeymoon Avenue." It's dreamy, velvety and warm, and backed with shoo-be-doos and violins. It sounds as good as a Justin Timberlake intro.

Grande uses her voice as an instrument throughout the 12-track set: "Baby I," with its finger snaps, features her screaming high notes; "Tattooed Heart" and "Daydreamin'" are A-List ballads; and on "The Way," her lead single and Top 10 hit, Grande's voice sounds like a Carey-Toni Braxton mash- up. »

The 'Suits' Guys Plot To Bring Stephen Down

3 September 2013 10:35 AM, PDT

"Suits" has seriously kicked it up a notch, and this week's episode "End Game" (Tues., Sept. 3 at 10 p.m. Et on USA) finds Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Mike (Patrick J. Adams) going head-to-head with their new nemesis: Stephen.

We've got an exclusive sneak peek (above) of the guys hatching their plan. Should they tell their client Ava, who's on trial for murder, that one of their slimy associates actually committed the crime? Harvey decides that they need more proof before doing that, but with only two days left until trial, there's no way Stephen will come clean. And there's no way he wants to deal with Harvey, who just fought him in the men's room.

But Harvey, of course, knows "someone else" who can tell them the whole story. Who do you think he's going to? And how do you think Stephen will be punished? Will this be the final nail in the merger coffin? »

Jennifer Lopez's relationship with boyfriend Casper Smart may have surprised some, but the superstar triple-threat says their love boils down to something very simple.

Country Music Star's Family Of Thieves

3 September 2013 10:31 AM, PDT

"Who Do You Think You Are?" doesn't always uncover amazing histories and family trees filled with royalty -- in country music star Trisha Yearwood's case (Tues., Sept. 3 at 9 p.m. Et on TLC), it's quite the opposite.

We've got an exclusive sneak peek at Yearwood's ancestral epiphanies, above, where she finds out that her relatives stole, wounded and killed "several fat bucks" from English royal hunting grounds in the 1700s.

"Awesome. Ok, so the three brothers are thieves ... I think we can pretty much rule out that I'm going to find out that I'm royalty," Yearwood says with a laugh. And the man tracking her genealogy agrees: "I think you're right."

Tell us: Do you prefer the episodes where people find out they have "normal" family trees, or are the royal revelations more exciting?

Guy Finds Usb Drive In Apple Store, Everyone Wins

3 September 2013 10:27 AM, PDT

It was just an average day at work for a San Franciscan Apple Store employee, when suddenly, and without warning, he came across a shining light. No, it wasn't heaven, but instead was the light catching on a mysterious Usb drive on the floor. When the drive was played, the gates of heaven might actually have opened since the contents were just ... glorious.

Okay fine, in reality, this employee was just cleaning, found a drive, played it, and we all laughed a lot. Seriously though, whoever this drive belongs to (Spiderman, duh) should go back to the Sf Apple Store to launch his rapping career. »

How Vin Diesel Made An Indie Movie

3 September 2013 10:23 AM, PDT

Filmmaking in 2013: "Riddick," the third Vin Diesel film to feature that title anti-hero, is an indie feature. That means even Vin Diesel -- who, thanks to the "Fast and Furious" movies, stars in one of the most popular film franchises in existence -- had to independently finance the third "Riddick" movie. How did he get here?

Let's start with "The Chronicles of Riddick," the sequel to "Pitch Black," which was released on June 11, 2004. The film, which cost around $110 million, grossed just $57 million at the North American box office, making it one of that summer's costly misfires. After that result it was understandable that a studio -- in this case, Universal -- was leery about putting more money into the franchise, even at this new film's reported bargain budgetary cost of $38 million.

Maybe, though, that was for the best. In this new installment, we find Riddick (Diesel) left for dead on a desolate planet. »

Jon Stewart returns to his "Daily Show" perch tonight after a summer in Jordan, and although he's only been gone for 3 months, it seems like much longer. After all, he's been the closest thing we have to a voice of reason across the media landscape for the last nearly 15 years.

That's right: 15 years. 3 September 2013 9:54 AM, PDT

Raven-Symoné was spotted this past weekend with her girlfriend, model AzMarie Livingston, at the LudaDay Weekend Celebrity Pool Party in Atlanta.

It's the first public appearance for the couple since the former Disney star put long-held rumors about her sexual orientation to rest last month, when she came out on Twitter.

The pair, who reportedly began dating two years ago, looked happy to be at the annual charity event thrown by rapper Ludacris, which includes appearances, concerts and a celebrity basketball game.

And the 27-year-old actress seemed to have more than a good time judging by her tweets:

'One Life To Live' In Limbo

3 September 2013 9:43 AM, PDT

"One Life to Live" has been shelved. The Los Angeles Times reports that the soap opera, which transitioned from ABC to online, will not immediately resume production thanks to a lawsuit between its production company, Prospect Park, and former network home.

Prospect Park is moving forward with the new season of "All My Children" with writers currently producing scripts for Season 2, according to the La Times.

Both "One Life to Live" and "All My Children" were canceled by ABC in 2011. Shortly after the cancellation, Prospect Park announced a licensing deal and plans to move the two long-running soaps online. The plans were halted, and after more than a year, the two soaps finally made their online debuts. While the online launch was in the works, "One Life to Live" characters visited ABC's "General Hospital."

Prospect Park sued ABC, alleging that the network tried to sabotage the soap revival by killing »
