You’ve seen “The Devil Wears Prada” — if you’re looking to make it in the fashion industry, it pays to know a thing or two about cerulean blue sweaters, Patrick Demarchelier, and the intricacies of working at a high fashion magazine.
Fashion business school LIM College has announced this year’s Summer Fashion Lab for high school students as well as the first-ever Advanced Fashion Lab. The latter is designed for visiting college students that are currently enrolled and upper-level high school students who have already taken the LIM College Fashion Lab.
The program targeted toward high school students includes a series of classes that explore careers in the fashion industry (Art’s Influence on Fashion, Fashion Field Trips, and Event Planning, to name a few), while the advanced program focuses more on fashion buying, styling, magazines and more (Retail Store Events, Fashion Buying and more). Most of the programs’ classes carry one college credit.
Classes run from July 8 through August 2 — each class is a week long, with the choice of a morning or afternoon session. Students typically register for two or more classes, and housing is offered in a residence hall in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
