The capital of Tennessee, Nashville sits on the Cumberland River, and was a significant city during the Civil War due to its shipping port.

Now Nashville is known as Music City. Nashville is replete with singers, songwriters, musicians, and music producers. Jack White, Etta Britt, Ke$ha, and The Black Keys are among some of the great music artists Nashville attracts. Nashville is home to a variety of music festivals throughout the year including the CMA Music Festival and the Country Music Marathon.

Many companies are based in Nashville including Universal Music Group Nashville, Baldwin Piano Company, and Country Music Television, but the largest employers are Vanderbilt University and the State of Tennessee.

The climate of Nashville is rather temperate with an average in January of 36° and an average of 79° in July, Nashville rarely gets too hot or too cold.
