The ceremony was attended by NJMG and KDC Solar executives, Rockaway Township officials and the team of contractors and other specialists who helped make the solar facility a reality.

“This use of clean energy helps us continue our environmental stewardship as well as reduce costs,” said Stephen Borg, President of NJMG.  “North Jersey Media Group is pleased to have partnered with KDC and I strongly recommend them to those considering similar projects.”

The facility, containing 20,400 solar panels, generates 6.2 million kilowatt hours of solar electricity per year and has an output of nearly 5 megawatts – enough energy to power 700 households a year.

Said Hal Kamine, KDC Solar’s Chief Executive Officer: “We are very pleased to have worked with North Jersey Media Group and, in particular, the Borg family to bring this concept to reality.  This facility is the largest photovoltaic solar facility at any printing facility in the State of New Jersey and will supply clean, lower cost, long-term solar energy to North Jersey Media Group for many years.”

NJMG’s printing plant produces the Company’s two daily newspapers, The Record and Herald News, more than 40 of its community newspapers and also prints USA Today, the Greater Media Newspapers, the Gannett Westchester-Rockland newspapers and the New Jersey Herald.
