County opens new field at Riverside Sportsplex

Bergen County will inaugurate a new athletic field on Saturday in the North Arlington section of the Riverside  Sportsplex with a football game between Queen of Peace and Manchester Regional High School (Haledon).

During my Record Talk Radio interview Monday with Bergen County Freeholder Maura DeNicola, we talked about the controversy over a Sheriff’s officer pulling her over on Aug. 14 as she was traveling home after a freeholder meeting.

The officer ordered her car towed home after determining that the registration on the vehicle had expired. At the time, DeNicola said she felt she had been targeted because of her opposition to merging the County Police into the Sheriff’s Office.

County to host art grants workshop

Bergen County-based non-profit arts organizations interested in applying for the 2014 Bergen County Arts grant program are invited to a workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. in the fourth floor learning center of the County Administration Building at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack.

First-time applicants for the program are required to send a representative to the free two-hour seminar.

Golf tournament renamed for Gabe Ambrosio

A golf tournament for Comprehensive Behavioral Healthcare has been renamed after the late former State Sen. Gabe Ambrosio, a longtime supporter of the event.

Ambrosio was a founding member of CBHCare’s board of trustees. He died in March at the age of 74.

The Gabriel M. Ambrosio Memorial Tournament will be held on Monday Sept. 16 at the New Jersey County Club in Wayne. Click here for additional information.
