There will be no fifth season for A&E‘s veteran drama The Glades despite the series hitting season highs in its most recent season finale. Glades appeared unlikely to continue, and I hear the network made the call this morning. Like its companion Longmire, Glades posted season highs in its finale earlier this week, averaging 3.4 million total viewers, 1.1 million adults 18-49 and 1.3 million adults 25-54. But year-to-year, Glades was down double digits in key demos while Longmire posted gains, likely contributing to A&E’s decision to renew Longmire and end Glades. Still, The Glades, from Fox TV Studios, performed respectably over its run. It was the first A&E scripted series to stick and helped establish the network’s scripted brand.

I think A&E is wrong on canceling The Glades. Why don’t they ask the public’s opinion???
Absolutely loved the show. Why do great shows disappear without viewers opinion.? Maybe because I live in Palm Beach County I love it more. Like Longmire but if I had my choice that would go. Please please dont’t cancel permanently. Great summer replacement . Wish Glades was on fall season. I guess A&E will be over for me
But they left him stabbed in his new house. Are they going to do a wrap up. I have to say I was extremely bored this year. It was a weird vibe this season. It seemed very unfresh. I could fall asleep to the show quite easily.

I am really upset that The Glades is cancelled. My mom and I watched it each and every week and any rerun on. My mother is bed ridden and this was a highlight for her, She called Jim “pretty boy”. I hope to see more on why this happened. It was a witty, yet suspenseful show. It was clean, and not too violent. I loved all the cast. Is there a chance it might be picked back up for renewal? I was disappointed the way it ended. The writers could have at least let the main character live and have a happily ever after…..sad!
A shame A&E couldn’t let the producers of the series know this far enough in advance so they didn’t leave the series with that crappy cliffhanger.
Oh Please someone pick up The Glades, for at least one more season. I love this show. It’s so much better than shows like the Good Wife and Blue Blood and yet these 2 boring shows just keep on going. I’m going to stop watching any shows. They hook you then throw you back.

I loved that show. A & E have very few good ones and now one of the best is gone. It was a terrible way to end the run. Hope you don’t trash Longmire too. A&E bad, bad, bad!

I believe Tony shot Jim…he’s was double-crossing Jim all along to help Ray keep check on what Jim was doing in regards to his location & actions.
But I guess no one will ever know…Unless? The producers speak-out after they can’t find a new home for a 5th season.

The only shows I watch on A&E are Longmire and Glades, I hate reality TV. I’ll continue to watch Longmire but after dumping Glades and leaving it with a cliffhanger like that I’ll never watch another one of their scripted shows they air.
agree 100%. They will keep poor reality slog that appeal to the lowest viewer intelligence. So much for art and entertainment.
This is too bad. It was a decent show. I thought the writing was much improved.
I can’t believe the series run is ending on that sort of cliffhanger! I will continue to watch Longmire since I started it and I really love it, but if they don’t give us some closure, even if it is only a made for TV movie, I will not be watching any new A&E dramas til they have completed their run and I know they won’t leave us on a cliffhanger.
Way to leave us hanging after that finale….there should be one follow-up episode so we know if Jim is dead or not.

I would imagine this show was canceled due in larger part to FLA letting their tax incentives expire without any sort of extension. Idiot politicians strike again.
Booooooooo! I enjoyed The Glades very much, (even though Jim could be irritating!). I do hope they would bring it back as a special to give it some closure!

90% of comments left regarding their dissatisfaction w/ the Glades cancellation are females…Just a thought: these same females should petition the Lifetime channel and/or the Oprah network to pick the series up….no way series gets cancelled if its on that network… it’s all about picking the right partner when it comes to these type of deals.
I started watching it this year and really enjoyed it.
No resolution leaves a bad taste for a&e
