Golden Globes Report: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Asked to Return as Hosts

12 hours ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Sometimes the TV gods are cruel and unusual (R.I.P. Happy Endings), and other times they bring wonderful gifts down (up?) to us. The latest gift hopefully coming our way is the report that the queens of comedy, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, have been asked to return as hosts for the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. Deadline is reporting that despite the fact that Poehler and Fey agreed to only a one-time hosting gig, producers are hoping for a repeat of the performance that brought in almost 20 million viewers. The ratings were a 17 percent increase from the year before, when Ricky Gervais hosted. While there apparently hasn't been any formal invitations extended to Fey and Poehler, NBC is currently gauging their »

Michael Caine Slams Sean Connery Alzheimer's Rumor

11 hours ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Forget Educating Rita. Michael Caine is educating the media. The Oscar winner is blasting a report in the German Sunday newspaper Bild that his good friend Sean Connery was suffering from Alzheimer's disease and was "no longer in full control of his senses." Upset, Caine called into the U.K.'s Daily Record to set the story straight. "It's completely preposterous, bull---," he told the paper. "This stuff about Alzheimer's is just nonsense." Caine, 80, and Connery, 83, have been close pals going all the way back to the 1950s and costarred in 1975's The Man Who Would Be King together. So word from the former that the Scottish actor might be ailing carries »

‘Amelie’ to Be Adapted for Broadway

11 hours ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Following in the footsteps of movies-turned-musicals such as “Kinky Boots” and “Billy Elliot,” an adaptation of the 2001 French film “Amelie” is aimed at Broadway.

Dan Messe of the Brooklyn-based indie band Hem has been tapped to compose, and he made the announcement on his band’s Facebook page.

“So not the best kept secret, but still I’m happy to announce that I’ve been commissioned to adapt the film ‘Amelie’ for Broadway,” he wrote Aug. 13.

Playwright Craig Lucas and co-lyricist Nathan Tysen are set to co-write the musical.

The movie followed Audrey Tautou as the title character, a young waitress in a whimsical version of Paris. The Jean-Pierre Jeunet-directed movie was a commercial and critical success, garnering five Oscar nominations and grossing $173.9 million worldwide.

Though the Paris-inspired score is one of the most iconic aspects of the film, Messe recently told Paste magazine that he isn’t interested in doing Parisian music. »

The stars aligned on Friday night for Broadway music-lover and voice teacher Sarah Horn, who had the chance to live out her wildest dream - singing a duet with Tony and Emmy award winner Kristin Chenoweth. Reese Witherspoon Displays the Definition of California Chic: Take Note, New York!

just now | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

We know Reese Witherspoon didn't mean to start a turf war, and neither do we—especially when our two favorite cities are concerned. But bottom line: this casual, cool look on the Academy Award winner defines the difference between the two coastal hubs, fashion-wise at least. Reese is as SoCal as they come strolling out of her L.A. lunch in a look fit for everything from a business meeting to a birthday party—all in the two most basic colors of all. What makes this outfit so obviously west coast is the blousey, light nature of the look. In New York that white top would be tighter and feature a longer sleeve. The skirt would be longer and definitely more form-fitting. And Reese would likely be wearing a »

Miley Cyrus at the VMAs: Adam Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, Cyndi Lauper and more react

2 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Love or hate Miley Cyrus's provocative VMAs performance, you've gotta give her one thing: she got people talking. The "We Can't Stop" singer has endured a rash of criticism following the skin-baring set - which saw her stripping down to a rubber bra and panties and twerking against singer Robin Thicke, among other things - including from several of her fellow celebs (not to mention our own Melinda Newman). All the attention compelled Cyrus to defend herself on Twitter Monday by proclaiming:  Smilers! My Vma performance had 306.000 tweets per minute. That's more than the blackout or Superbowl! #fact. — Miley Ray »

Timbaland's Doing a Michael Jackson Project

3 hours ago | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

The endless, endlessly opportunistic Reanimating Michael Jackson's Voice parade is about to get a Timbaland float. Yes, the same Timbaland who, when Drake and Chris Brown came out with posthumous Aaliyah songs, said, "Aaliyah music only work with its soulmate, which is me." That very Timbaland now admits he only spoke once on the phone with Michael Jackson but that he's got an Mj-featuring track, "Chicago," on the way anyway. Maybe it's even a whole album. Presuming we're on the Magna Carta Holy Grail teaser path, there will be a longer version of this clip soon enough. »

Let's just say, the lads of One Direction maintained a sense of humor about everything they witnessed on the MTV Video Music Awards stage this past weekend. Talking to E! News last night at the NYC premiere of their 3-D documentary One Direction: This Is Us, they were asked what immediately came to mind when they thought of Miley Cyrus' VMAs performance. "Twerk!" offered Liam Payne. And then they all just started talking at once.  "I wouldn't like to comment on this," Liam reconsidered. "It was interesting," Harry Styles said dryly. Lady Gaga Loves Wearing Bras as Tops—Take a Look!

Another day, another bra for Lady Gaga. While most women use a brassiere simply for it's purpose to support and lift the girls, Mother Monster opts to flash her wide variety of undergarments to the world by wearing them as an actual top. Some days they're bright, other days they're black. Sometimes they're racy, sometimes (but not usually) they're plain. Anyway, you catch the drift. For today, however, Gaga went for a sexy bright pink, lacy bra with what looks like a black fisherman jumpsuit, which actually suits the occasion quite well. The "Applause" singer was spotted wearing this get-up while leaving her hotel to head to a fish and chips restaurant in London (no word »

Billy Ray Cyrus Cancels on Piers Morgan Live: He's Not Quite Ready to Explain Miley, Piers Jokes

Billy Ray Cyrus' first in-depth interview regarding his daughter's performance at the MTV Video Music Awards will have to wait. No official reason was given, but the host joked that the beleaguered dad probably just hadn't figured out what to say about Miley yet. If you only know Angel Haze from the Azealia Banks beef, consider trying again with "Echelon (It's My Way)," the first single from Dirty Gold. That's the album that will actually see release sometime soon, as opposed to Banks's Broke with Expensive Taste, which has fast become the Chinese Democracy of up-and-coming female rappers. If you're into Haze's vibe here but yawning at another fashion-centric rap, head straight to "Werkin' Girls" afterward, then on to the mixtape diamond mine. »

'So You Think You Can Dance': Top 6 perform, 2 go home

We're down to the top six, and you know what that means -- no more saves from the judges! I'm conflicted about this, as the judges do tend to save the best dancers and not the favorite dancers (mostly) while America votes for who's cutest or has the best story (mostly). But, as we know from years of having it drummed in our heads, this is about who America likes, not necessarily who's best.  Jesse Tyler Ferguson joins Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe on the judges' panel. Still, Nigel says that he intends to still be tough -- even if it »
