Meeting Procedures & Requirements

The City Council, commissions, committees, or task forces of the City meet at a designated time and place to consider any item or subject matter within the City's jurisdiction. Meetings must be open to the public as set forth in the Ralph M. Brown Act (California Government Code Sections 54950, et seq.).  Meetings are conducted using Rosenberg's Rules of Order. Because the formal process for conducting City meetings is not always familiar to the general public, the City Council has developed a helpful Speaker's Guide to Addressing the City Council.
