NICE Research and Development Team

The Research & Development (R&D) Team is part of the Centre for Health Technology Evaluation (CHTE) Directorate and the activities cut across departmental boundaries.

The Research and Development team facilitates teams within NICE to improve the methods that NICE uses to develop guidance, and encourages partners to commission research relevant to the work of NICE.

The R&D Team uses NICE's activities to identify and disseminate national research priorities and to collaborate with the research community to promote their resolution.

The R&D team is also responsible for the Institutes research governance activities, Social Values Judgements document and coordinates the Technical Forum at NICE.

A key responsibility of the R&D Team is NICE's Citizens Council. The Citizens Council is a panel of 30 members of the public that meets once a year to provide NICE with a public perspective on an overarching moral or ethical topic that NICE has to take account of when producing NICE guidance.
