Inside Teresa Giudice's Fraud Case: How Her Bankruptcy Filing Led to Criminal Charges

2 hours ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Joe and Teresa Giudice filed for bankruptcy in 2009 and dropped their petitions in 2011. So why were the Real Housewives of New Jersey couple just charged yesterday with, among other things, trying to hide assets and income during the bankruptcy process? "When you file for bankruptcy, everything is public," New Jersey tax attorney Todd Unger, who does not represent either Joe or Teresa, tells E! News. "If you have someone that owes back taxes and at some point they have filed bankruptcy, the government can go and just pull that bankruptcy record, just like you or I can, and they can start looking at inconsistencies. 'Well, wait a minute, what's this, what's that?'" he »

4 hours ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

After overseas grosses saved “The Wolverine’s” bacon last weekend, international prospects should also keep “The Smurfs 2″ from looking too blue.

This weekend, Sony’s “Smurfs 2″ is expected to be shot down at the domestic B.O. by Universal’s action comedy “2 Guns,” which could gross north of $30 million from Friday to Sunday.

The live action-toon hybrid launches Wednesday at 3,400-plus Stateside locations, tracking in the mid-$30 millions for five days. By comparison, the first “Smurfs” debuted with $35 million in three domestically.

Globally, however, Sony expects the sequel to collect at least $100 million through Sunday.

“Smurfs 2″ bows day-and-date in 34 markets, including Brazil, France, Germany, Mexico, Russia, South Korea, Spain and the U.K.

Sony hasn’t been shy about its expectations for “Smurfs 2″ being internationally focused. In fact, Adam Sandler even joked about the pic’s overseas prospects at CinemaCon in April saying, “I know all you overseas people »

Angelina Jolie: Another Day, Another Basic Black Dress

just now | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

What happened to the edgy Angelina Jolie we used to know and love?! Remember her? She wore Billy Bob Thorton's blood in a vile and could always be counted on for a super sexy style? Apparently with kids—six kids—comes far less time to focus on fashion? The Tourist star stepped out with beau Brad Pitt in yet another all-black dress. This version of her new favorite look was designed by Saint Laurent, so we know it's fancy, we just wish it also had one, simple element of fun! We will confess that that asymmetrical style looks sleak on Angie's slight frame. We're also happy to see a statement earring, adding some much-needed sparkle to the otherwise drab dress. We'll also cut the »

Sharknado's Ratings Growing with Every Repeat Screening

39 minutes ago | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Sharknado only scored 1.4 million viewers on its July 11 debut, which didn't seem like too big of a deal since the Syfy original movie won the Internet so hard. Turns out the Internet-winning had its own value, pushing more viewers to watch the repeats than the premiere. Syfy's second screening scored 1.9 million viewers, and Saturday night's third showing reeled in 2.1 million. "That’s the most-watched encore for an original movie in Syfy history," EW reports. Looks like Syfy was right to immediately green light that sequel after all. »

Lewis Black Is Doing His Next Stand-up Special as a Live Simulcast

Louis C.K.'s "pay me $5 and download my new comedy special" gambit quickly caught on with comics like Aziz Ansari, Maria Bamford, and Jim Gaffigan, seeming very much like the wave of the future. But Lewis Black is trying a more established tactic for his new special — a massive pay-per-view simulcast — although the method hasn't ever been employed for stand-up in this way. Old Yeller, Black's ninth special, will be filmed on Aug. 24 at the Borgata in Atlantic City and broadcast live on Time Warner Cable, DirecTV, Dish, Cablevision, Xfinity, Cox Communications, Charter Communications, At&T U-Verse, and Verizon FiOS. Back in March, Black told Laughspin he wasn't sure the direct-to-fans model would work for him. "I’ve thought about it, but my problem is that I have an audience that is in range from age 15 to 80. I have three generations showing up — and two generations »

You don't need to thoroughly understand the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to take some guesses at the kinds of people who run cable channels or broadcast networks. You will notice some trends. Early jubilance, for example. ("I'm going to take this moribund Content Provider and really do some exciting new things with it!") Measured optimism is also popular. 'So You Think You Can Dance' recap: The top 12 are chosen

2 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

By the end of this episode, we'll be down to twelve dancers, which doesn't seem like a lot, does it? The good part about fewer dancers, however, is the opening number looks less like a riot out of "World War Z" and more like, well, dancing. And when the opening number is choreographed by Sonya Tayeh and Dmitry Chaplin? Well, then it really, really looks like dancing.  Less smoke! But otherwise, this opener is a fabulous piece. I love the use of the stage, especially because we don't just see the dancers cycle through solos while everyone else performs in unison »
