3 bodies found in East Cleveland, Ohio; suspect in custody

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio, July 20 (UPI) -- The decomposed bodies of three women were found in garbage bags in East Cleveland, Ohio, and police said Saturday they had a suspect in custody.

Investigators said all three bodies were found within 100 yards of each other, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported. The first one was found in a carport Friday morning and the other two on Saturday, one in an abandoned house and the other outside the home, the newspaper said. East Cleveland Council President Joy Jordan said the victims were women.

The Plain Dealer said a 35-year-old man was arrested at a Cleveland residence about 5:30 p.m. Friday following a 2-hour standoff and was being held in the first death but had not yet been charged.

East Cleveland police and other law enforcement agencies, assisted by dogs trained to find cadavers, were searching yards and abandoned houses in the neighborhood Saturday night, the newspaper said.
