FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 17 (UPI) -- Former NFL quarterback Daunte Culpepper has lost his South Florida mansion to foreclosure.

SunTrust Bank dismissed a lawsuit against Culpepper July 3, the South Florida Business Journal reported Tuesday. That means the bank has accepted the deed for the house in Southwest Ranches, Broward County, as full payment for Culpepper's debt.

Culpepper purchased the 9,867-square-foot house in 2006, the year the Minnesota Vikings traded him to the Miami Dolphins. He paid $3.67 million, partly financed by a $2.93 million mortgage.

A Sunshine State native and star at the University of Central Florida, Culpepper was drafted by the Vikings in 1999. He played for them for six seasons.

The Dolphins paid Culpepper a $7 million signing bonus and $1 million in the first year in salary. His contract called for him to be paid $51.5 million through 2013 but he was released after a single season and played briefly for the Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions. He ended his career in 2010 with the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League.
