Showtime has renewed rookie drama Ray Donovan for a second season.

Ray Donovan is on track to be our biggest Season 1 show ever,” said network president David Nevins in a statement. “[Series creator] Ann Biderman and the extraordinarily talented creative team, coupled with the brilliant ensemble cast led by Liev Schreiber, have produced one of the hottest new dramas of the year. We are proud and excited to pick up another season.”

The series, which stars Schreiber as a Hollywood fixer, made history last month as Showtime’s best series launch to date. Even more impressive, the show grew 15 percent in its second week to 2.2 million viewers. »

'American Dad' will move to TBS in 2014

10 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

In a somewhat innovative deal, TBS announced on Tuesday (July 16) that it has picked up an 11th season for "American Dad," meaning that the Seth MacFarlane comedy will soon be ending its run on Fox.   The deal goes like this: Fox has the 10th season of "American Dad" set to premiere this fall. Easy, right? That will be the show's final season on Fox and then, in late 2014, the 15-episode 11th season will premiere on TBS.   There's an extra twist: TBS' corporate sibling Adult Swim will get encores of each episode after their initial TBS airing, which »

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t watched the Suits season premiere, stop reading now. Stars Patrick J. Adams (Mike) and Meghan Markle (Rachel) stopped by EW separately today to chat about what went down in the hour and where we go from here.

• By the end of the hour, Harvey (Gabriel Macht) still wanted nothing to do with Mike, but Rachel did. The first time Mike went to her apartment and stared at her large bed, she told him she’d never expose him to the firm, but if he wanted to be with her, he had to quit. And he was going to, »

Mega Buzz: Castle's Proposal, a Diaries Ex and Breaking Bad's Flash-Forward

Every week, editors Adam Bryant and Natalie Abrams satisfy your need for TV scoop. Please send all questions to mega_scoop@tvguide.com or tweet them to @adam_bryant or @NatalieAbrams.

Got any Castle scoop on Beckett's answer to Castle's proposal? — Denise, via Twitter

Adam: Yep, you'll get it — and Beckett's decision about the job in Washington — immediately when the show returns. But creator Andrew W. Marlowe suggests that the answer is the easy part. "There are four possible outcomes and each of them have their own particular consequences," he says. "There's no version of this that's easy and that they live happily ever after — even with the good stuff." And while Rick would certainly be heartbroken if Beckett said no, Marlowe says Beckett has the most to lose. "How can she make any choice without giving something up? She'll have to sacrifice something," he teases.

'The X Factor' Season 3: Simon Cowell is back in control - so he thinks

1 hour ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Check out the first look at "The X Factor" Season 3, which debuted during the 2013 Mlb All-Star Game. Judges Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato are joined by newbies Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio -- and Cowell claims he's back in control, having this to say about each of his fellow panelists:

Rowland -- "total professional"

Paulina -- "everybody's going to understand [her]"

Demi -- "she respects me"

Uh huh. Though we will give Simon some props for having a female-heavy panel. No other reality singing competition in the U.S. has done that so far -- it's always been split evenly or male-dominated. So, kudos to you, Cowell.

"The X Factor's" two-night premiere is Sept. 11 and 12 on Fox. Check out all the fall 2013 premiere dates here. »

'Pretty Little Liars' introduces 'Ravenswood' in 'Under the Gun'

1 hour ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

On the latest "Pretty Little Liars," the spin-off location of Ravenswood is introduced -- and it's just as creepy as we were expecting.

A/Alison

Spencer and Toby track Carla Grunwald, the sorority housemother that Alison was calling in her secret torture room, to Ravenswood, the town that apparently both time and color forgot. There's a Scooby Doo-villain caretaker at the Grunwald address, but no Carla -- instead, she's getting her hair done.

She also claims to have no idea who Alison is, just in time for the noon whistle to blow signaling that everyone is on break from the mine. Or, in this town, the noon creepy song signaling that everyone should shamble like zombies to the graveyard and gather 'round the angel statue.

Shana's there paying homage and after she's given up her animal sacrifice or whatever it is they're doing, she speeds away in Jenna's mustang. »

Univision Wins Primetime in Demo for Third Straight Week

3 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Univision has finished on top of the young-adult network rankings for an unprecedented third straight week, as its all-0riginal, novela-driven lineup continues to outperform the listless major networks.

CBS continues to do well with original summer drama “Under the Dome,” but nothing else new is clicking on the Big Four, and veteran reality series are down pretty much across the board.

NBC did Ok last week with a trio of new shows — “Camp,” “Get Out Alive With Bear Grylls” and “Hollywood Game Night” — but it’s too early to tell if they’ll stick.

Overall for the week of July 8-14, Univision led in adults 18-49 with a 1.4 rating/5 share, followed by NBC, Fox and CBS (all at 1.2/4), ABC (0.9/3) and top cabler TBS (0.8/2). CBS and NBC were both up slightly from the comparable week of last year.

The Eye edged out the Peacock for the lead in adults 25- »

Preview: ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Adds New Dimension: Smell-o-Vision

3 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

It’s a gimmick, of course — and a completely unnecessary one at that — that the premiere of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” incorporates a “Watch ‘n Sniff” stunt, with a half-dozen nondescript smells available via cards being distributed in conjunction with the July 17 premiere.

Frankly, TLC’s standout series — the “Toddlers & Tiaras” spinoff that noisily crowded its way into the cultural zeitgeist — doesn’t really need the assist to make its mark on TV any more tangible.

As I said when the show premiered (can that really have been only a year ago?), “Honey Boo Boo” is both “disturbingly condescending and almost irresistibly cheeky,” reveling in an “exploitation of deep-fried Southern rubes.” What made the formula pop, ultimately, is how the show managed to unite disparate constituencies — big-city types (including media folk always on the lookout for colorful oddballs) who embraced its reality-version-of-”The Beverly Hillbillies” conceit, and a large »

Keith Olbermann nearing deal to rejoin Espn

4 hours ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Keith Olbermann might be heading back to Espn.

The sports/political commentator is nearing a deal to host a late night talk show on ESPN2 (the sister network he helped to launch over 20 years ago), Variety reports. The official announcement could come as soon as Wednesday, though an Espn spokesman declined to comment and a premiere date is not yet known.

This wouldn't be Olbermann's first foray with Espn -- he was one of the most prominent faces on the sports network back in the 90s. He co-hosted "SportsCenter" with Dan Patrick, but after notorious conflicts arose -- which were described in the 2012 book, "Those Guys Have All the Fun" -- he moved on to other jobs.

What prompted the talks of the previously-thought-to-be-unlikely reunion? With Fox Sports 1 coming next month, Espn is trying to stay ahead of the game and continue its monopoly of the TV sports landscape. This »

In Fox’s thriller Wayward Pines, Toby Jones will play Dr. Jenkins, a charismatic and mysterious psychiatrist who treats a Secret Service agent (Matt Dillon) who arrives in a small Idaho town looking for two missing agents. Along with The Hunger Games and its upcoming sequel, Jones’ credits include Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Frost/Nixon, My Week With Marilyn, the first Harry Potter film, and next year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
