A HUGE week on the circuit as Rafters bid farewell, the Moet flowed, Superman flew in and some embarrassing bodies hit the party scene.

Packed To The Rafters BBQ, Seven HQ

A farewell to what has been a mighty successful show was celebrated in fine style, as Packed to Rafters funsters came together at Cafe Morso on the Jones Bay Wharf, not far from Seven Network HQ.

The network invited the cast, senior production execs, media and TV types to celebrate the five years the series has aired. Guests included

Seven honcho Brad Lyons, as well as the show's stars, the enigmatic Erik Thomson and riveting Rebecca Gibney while Michael Caton was, of course, the life of the party.

Other names included Angus Ross, drama chief Julie McGauran, Susan Wood, Bruce McWilliam, Melanie Vallejo (from Winners & Losers), and Simon Francis, all enamoured with the cute Kombi parked out the front. Seems it's a prop that will figure predominantly when the final episode airs next Tuesday night.

But Rafters fans should never fear, the family and its trials and tribulations may be back in the odd special, now or then.

EMBARRASSING BODIES Down under launch, The Roosevelt

The incredibly smooth Dr Christian Jessen - he of UK's Embarrassing Bodies fame - ventured to Oz to head up the antipodean version of the franchise, aptly called Embarrassing Bodies Down Under.

Foxtel, Shine Australia and the LifeStyle YOU channel commandeered The Roosevelt Room in Potts Point, and served up cocktails like Burning Sensations and Rash Decisions. Very cute indeed.

Dr Chris is renowned for taking a no-nonsense approach to whatever health issues come his way to the Bodies bus that traipses around the UK, and now in Australia.

Whether a problem with a penis or palpitation, the 100 guests gathered seemed thrilled this car-crash (and totally riveting series) will be given an Oz airing.

Guests included Jamie Campbell and the three other stars of the Oz show, Dr Ginni Mansberg, Dr Sam Hay and Dr Brad McKay.

Shine Australia's Majella Wiemers, Rory Callaghan, Scott Howard and Charlotte McLauchlan were there, as well as Hannah Barnes, Ross Crowley.

Coming up with new ways to unleash beauty products into a crowded market has become an art form.

So, of course the fine folk from Swiss beauty house took over the Art Gallery of NSW to showcase theirs.

Various glam faces attended the launch of La Prairie's latest anti-aging innovations, sipping on Veuve Clicquot before hearing about the latest revered potions.

A welcome greeting from Managing Director Rosi Fernandez discussed the success of the La Prairie brand before intro-ing their latest anti-aging products, for round the clock use.

Guests watched as the curtain dropped on a white chiffon draped stage as a voice over began with a 7am alarm beep, revealing a bedroom scene where 'Ms 7am' was getting ready for work and applying the first product - Anti-Aging Eye and Lip Contour Cream.

The revolving stage then turned to show an office scene where 'Ms 3pm' was getting ready for an afternoon meeting with her Anti-Aging Eye and Lip Perfection a Porter.

The stage revolved again to reveal 'Ms 7pm' who is preparing for an evening event by lathering on Skin Caviar Luxe Souffle Body Cream and a pre-bed face mask. A very clever way to show the new potions, which will be out later this year.

Guests included Lynette Phillips (MAXMEDIALAB), Sigourney Cantelo (Vogue), David Novak-Piper (Belle), Alex Noonan (Marie-Claire), Susan Skelley (Qantas), Stephen McDonald (David Jones) and Ai San Beaumont.

Style Spy discovers the wool winner

Sibling, the UK based brand composed by Joe Bates, Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery, was announced as the winner of the European selection for the 2013/14 International Woolmark Prize.

A judging panel including Franca Sozzani, Angela Missoni, Godfrey Deeny, Tim Blanks, and Susanne Botschen selected the winner who will fight out for the global crown, including an Australian entrant, who will be crowned on July 18 and go to the international competition next February in Milan.

"The group of the nominees was of a very high level, and we struggled to take the decision," said Angela Missoni, who announced the name of the winner.

"At the end, we decided for SIBLING because they demonstrated to be the more complete and mature label, and their creative research, joint with their knowledge of wool and knitwear, was the key factor." Hooray for wool!

Moet & Chandon's Chef de Cave Benoît Gouez hits Oz

The man whose job it is to make his champagne house perfect hot town to dine and wine over lunch.

Mr Gouez joined a room full of Aussie luxury and lifestyle types for wine tasting and food pairing experience over lunch at Ananas Bar & Brasserie in Sydney.

Twenty guests experienced Benoît Gouez's mastery of his art of knowing everything about champagne.

Guests enjoyed a bespoke French menu paired unique Moet & Chandon masterpieces including, gulp, Moet & Chandon Impérial served on arrival from large Jeroboam bottles; the Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 2004, served with house-salted cod and the Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage Rose 2002, served with a Fresh strawberry and fig consomme.

Umm. Yeah, baby.

The Good: The Man of Steel premiere a very jolly and chatty Russell Crowe on the black carpet. Oh, and as Superman's 'dad' he steals the flick, by the way. Oh, and go the Wallabies who play the Lions tomorrow night in Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

The Bad: Sure, we all love a little cold and rainy snap (so we don't feel obliged to do anything) but jeez, it plays havoc with even getting out the door any other day.

The Ugly: The week in politics started with a woolly Woman's Weekly yarn and finished with a government unravelling. Perhaps some order will now prevail? Hope springs...
