Omnifone has added 1.2 million subscribers to its cloud-based music services in the last six months. The London-based company, which also has a U.S. office in the Los Angeles area, provides licensing and backend services for a variety of digital music services.

“Our growth during the past 10 years is further evidence of streaming’s relevance to the future success of the music industry," said CEO Jeff Hughes. As we look to the next 10 years we aim to be integral to the global adoption of digital music consumption through more partnerships in more countries.”

Omnifone, Powers Music For Sony, BlackBerry, Rara.com, Turns Profit

A company spokesperson tells Billboard the increase in subscribers is the result of gains at SiriusXM Radio's MySXM, Sony Music Unlimited and subscription radio service rara.com. MySXM is a new Internet radio service that allows users to personalize a number of SiriusXM channels. Music Unlimited launched in Brazil in May and Mexico in March.

Omnifone does not release its total number of subscribers, but the spokesperson says the 1.2-million gain a "significant" improvement over the previous six-month period. But not all of these subscribers count as incremental money to the industry. Because MySXM is a feature available to SiriusXM's 24.4 million subscribers

In addition, Omnifone's catalog has grown fourfold since 2010 to 25 million tracks. Its latest licensing deals, with TuneCore in the U.S. and iMusica in Latin America, allow the company to provide local and international tracks to its customers.
