D’EON — Now You Do (LP, 2012)

Stream d’Eon’s weird new album, LP, at Stereogum. The record, according to d’Eon himself, is about the archangel Gabriel living on the internet in 2012. So that’s that.

The record is out now via Hippos in Tanks.

A new video from Captured Tracks’ Mac Demarco premiered over at IFC today. The clip is for Demarco’s track ‘European Vegas’ off his Rock and Roll Nightclub EP.

Directed by Angus Borsos, DOP by Evan Prosofsky.

New video for ‘How Long Have You Known?’ from DIIV.

Debut album, Oshin, out June 26 via Captured Tracks.

Teaser video by Synesthesiae Films for the soon to be released EP from Outlands on Chill Mega Chill.

Watch the latest GRIMES video for ‘Nightmusic’ off of Visions.

MIRROR KISSES — Takeover (Outlands ’90s Remix)

Blacksburg, VA’s Outlands have given their Chill Mega Chill labelmates Mirror Kisses’ new single ‘Takeover’ a 90s r&b makeover.

Both Mirror Kisses and Outlands have new releases out this summer.

GUANTANAMO BAYWATCH — Baby Please (Chest Crawl, 2012)

Portland’s Guantanamo Baywatch is set to release their newest LP Chest Crawl on May 22 via Dirtnap Records.

Fans of Shannon & The Clams or Hunx & His Punx will definitely like this group’s similar blend of reverby surf and crunchy punk, held together by the same kind of campiness that makes Hunx and Shannon so much fun to listen to. Evidence: their band name and their album artwork.

DIIV — Doused (Oshin, 2012)

Dive is now DIIV. ‘Doused’ is their new single, off of their upcoming LP Oshin out June 26 via Captured Tracks. You may remember this song from their Newtown Radio session, when it was still untitled.

My assignment for my Public Policy class this week is to “come up with a song/artist that had an impact on public policy in the U.S. at any point in U.S. history. The impact doesn’t have to be enormous, but you must be able to make a reasoned, sound argument for your selection.”
