12 hours ago | EW - Inside Movies | See recent EW.com - Inside Movies news »

No one knows the Hollywood franchise game better than Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer behind Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure, Beverly Hills Cop, and the upcoming Lone Ranger. During his more than 35 years of making movies, most of his giant blockbusters have yielded big-budget sequels — except the one that moviegoers are perhaps the hungriest to revisit: Top Gun. After years of planning to send Tom Cruise’s rebel flyboy back into the sky were interrupted by the tragic death of director Tony Scott, who helmed the 1986 original, Bruckheimer says Top Gun 2 is still a Go.

HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Draws 5.4 Million for Third-Season Finale

8 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

One week after a vocal minority of “Game of Thrones” fans vowed to bail on the series after its especially violent “red wedding” episode, the epic fantasy show drew its second-largest audience to date for its third-season finale Sunday night.

Nielsen estimates that 5.4 million tuned in Sunday for the first telecast of the season-ender, up 3% from last week’s 5.22 million and behind only the show’s May 5 episode, which drew 5.5 million — this despite facing the NBA Finals on ABC. Among all current HBO series, only “True Blood” has drawn a larger audience than “Game of Thrones,” peaking at 5.53 million in August 2011.

Review: “Game of Thrones” Season Three Finale

A second airing Sunday drew about 900,000 viewers, for a cume total of 6.3 million viewers.

This year’s finale of “Game of Thrones” surged 28% over last year’s 4.2 million.

Warner Bros. Escapes Lawsuit Over 'Bourne Identity'

13 hours ago | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

After giving up the right to produce The Bourne Identity nearly 15 years ago, Warner Bros. won't face any additional punishment for this misjudgment. Last week, a New York judge refused to allow the studio to be entered as a defendant in a lawsuit three decades in the making. The lawsuit comes from the widow of Anthony Lazzarino, who in the early 1980s operated a company called Windwood/Glen Productions that actually held film rights to the Robert Ludlum novel. The adaptation rights were then sold to Warners' predecessor, Orion Pictures, in exchange for a 3.75 percent interest of revenues

Tom Petty L.A. Show Cut Short by Fire Marshal

12 hours ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Don't do him like that! Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were pretty psyched to play an intimate gig Saturday night at Los Angeles' Fonda Theatre. Only, much to their chagrin, the classic rockers were forced to end the concert midway through after the fire marshal ruled the venue unsafe. Talk about a heartbreaker! According to Rolling Stone, after covering the Grateful Dead gem "Friend of the Devil" about 90 minutes into their set, Petty told the audience he had just been informed by the fire marshal that the venue was over capacity by 100 people, and the rocker half-jokingly requested for a hundred fans to head upstairs or leave.  He then launched into a spirited »
