THRISSUR (Kerala): Indian police have charged a man for allowing his nine-year-old son to drive his Ferrari F 430.

Inquiry into an incident of a nine-year-old boy driving with his five-year-old brother alongside, the YouTube video of which went viral, is progressing. The video showed the young boy riding a high-end luxury car in a posh residential area in Thrissur, Kerala, India. Police arrested the boy's father on Monday and released on bail.

The Police found Muhammed Nisham, the owner of the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, on Thursday to record his statement after Thrissur City Police Commissioner ordered an inquiry into the incident. The Police registered the case under the Motor Vehicles Act and Section 23 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Since, Nisham was out of town and likely to return within a couple of days, the Police said, "We are going ahead with the inquiry. We are yet to take the car into custody and prepare a statement."

Two weeks ago, Nisham's wife recorded the boy driving the sports car on his ninth birthday, with his younger brother in the passenger seat. Since, the child wanted to drive the car; his father permitted him, as he knew there would be no accident.

Nevertheless, the video went viral on YouTube, registering over 1m hits and caused an outrage across India, and that led police to file charges. The boy has also driven the family's Lamborghini and Bentley. His mother said she's "proud of him. He's been driving since he was 5."

"It's not easy for a child to achieve such a feat at this young age," she said.

India's economic thriving has created a class of super-rich, whose overindulgence is often in the news.
