United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to destroy humanity itself.

The Buzz: Marc Foster always seemed like a curious pick to helm an action-heavy adaptation of the novel by Max Brooks, and details on the out-of-focus production emerged over the summer of 2012 as to its myriad problems, from indecision as to what the zombies should look like to major crew members asking to be let go from the production. Never mind the skyrocketing budget. What first appeared to be the best franchise starter since Rise of the Planet of the Apes has a target on its back; I'm sensing this is the Men in Black 3 of Summer 2013 - meaning it will under-perform in the U.S. and make its money elsewhere. An opening under $50 million dollars has to be a major disappointment for all involved - especially for a project that was developed to be a trilogy.

Certificate G   -   Animation | Adventure | Comedy | Family | Fantasy

A look at the relationship between Mike and Sulley during their days at Monsters University -- when they weren't necessarily the best of friends.
Director:
Watch Trailer

The Buzz: Initially, we were a bit disheartened to hear that Pixar was using its 2013 slot for a Monsters, Inc. prequel: we already know that Mike and Sulley wind up being best friends, so the story of how they met could feel redundant. We got a look at some Monsters University concept art at Disney's D23 event last summer, though, and now we're definitely interested to see how Pixar goes about "monsterizing" the college experience. Here's hoping that in the pantheon of Pixar sequels/prequels, this is more Toy Story 3 and less Cars 2.

Certificate PG-13   -   Comedy | Drama | Music | Romance

Grumpy pensioner Arthur honors his recently deceased wife's passion for performing by joining the unconventional local choir to which she used to belong, a process that helps him build bridges with his estranged son, James.

The Buzz: Brit filmmaker Paul Andrew Williams takes a departure from the darker-hued movies he has directed in the past to offer up this crowd-pleaser that knits together two popular themes: the surly older protagonist whose heart begins to thaw out, and senior-citizen choruses belting out unlikely hits. But, I mean, it's Terence Stamp, and you don't waste an opportunity to see him perform.

Documentary

A documentary that explores the downloading revolution; the kids that created it, the bands and the businesses that were affected by it, and its impact on the world at large.
Director:

The Buzz: If there were ever a documentary that could release further updates and installments, it's Alex Winter's look at the first wave of the downloading revolution that forever altered the music industry. Since the music business has found ways in which to recover -- by refocusing attention on the power of the hit single; by the rebirth of vinyl LP sales; by widening the definition of what makes a pop star -- Downloaded might be a many things, including a study guide for the sagging film industry.

Certificate R   -   Crime | Drama

Metascore: 69/100 (23 reviews)
Inspired by actual events, a group of fame-obsessed teenagers use the internet to track celebrities' whereabouts in order to rob their homes.
Director:

The Buzz: Since Spring Breakers created a neon-bikini pop-culture mini-frenzy, we're interested to see if Sofia Coppola's typically wispy filmmaking approach can add more to the discussion about the adventures and motivations of listless, infamy-seeking youth. This past weekend, the ring owned the box office in Los Angeles and New York, slinking away with Coppola's best performance since Lost in Translation. Breakout star Katie Chang leads her crew into the big leagues this coming weekend with a wide expansion.
