NICE gives green light to treatment for type 2 diabetes
Type 2 diabetes affects around 2.5 million people in the UK. A healthy lifestyle that includes a healthy diet and  being physically active can help prevent or alleviate the symptoms. In addition, NICE guidance published in October recommends a treatment called liraglutide (Victoza, Novo Nordisk) for some of those affected.

Helping children and young people who wet the bed
Around one in five children aged 4½ - and almost one in ten of those aged 9½, occasionally wet the bed. It can also happen to older children and young people, affecting their emotional wellbeing and their social life. Now new NICE guidance aims to ensure all those up to the age of 19 receive the support and treatment they need.

NICE calls for extra help for pregnant women living in difficult circumstances
Women living in areas of high deprivation in England are five times more likely to die during pregnancy or after childbirth than those living in more affluent areas. Their babies are also around twice as likely to be stillborn or to die shortly after birth. New NICE guidance is calling for the re-organisation of antenatal care services to ensure these women - and others facing difficult circumstances when pregnant - get the extra help they need.
