Letter: NSA's data center will destroy privacy

Thank you, Matt Reed, for your wake-up call column Sunday about the National Security Agency’s planned data center in Utah, which will destroy our privacy in every way.

Something that far-reaching has nothing to do with security but obliterates our constitutional rights.

We already have in place wiretaps, sometimes warrantless, license-plate recording at toll booths, tracking devices in our cell phones and cars, imprisonment without charges or time limit, and more.

As far as I am concerned, this democracy that my father died to defend is morphing into a real potential for tyranny. We citizens really need to assert ourselves about the NSA’s planned data center and protest to our representatives in the strongest terms.

I have found, however, when I talk to people who read your column, they simply don’t care. It’s like, that’s OK, I don’t mind.

The New World Order is starting to sound like the original World Order, and we remember who coined that phrase, don’t we? (for those too young to remember, it was Hitler).
