The SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) Maestro program is a three-day, deep-dive course on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services. It gives architects and consultants the education and hands-on experience needed to deliver highly scalable Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) solutions.
The SSAS Maestro program was created as a way to share the lessons learned by enterprise customers of the SQL Customer Advisory Team (SQLCAT) using complex SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services and a Unified Dimensional Model (UDM). As an example, you can learn about Yahoo!’s 24 TB Analysis Services cube, which was announced during the PASS Summit 2010 Day One Live Streaming Keynote with Senior VP Ted Kummert.
The in-depth knowledge of experts such as Akshai Mirchandani, Thomas Kejser, John Sirmon, and Denny Lee has been incorporated by the Solid Quality Mentors team into a three-day, deep-dive course, consisting of 11 modules, with labs and exams.
Benefits
Upon successful completion of this course, attendees will:
Become part of the elite group of SSAS Maestros
Be included on the SSAS Maestro list, published on a Microsoft site for your customers to reference
Be referred as an SSAS Maestro to individuals needing help with complex SSAS engagements
Have access to webcasts and Q&A; sessions created by SQLCAT and the Analysis Services team discussing the latest best practices and lessons learned from the most complex SSAS implementations
Requirements
Because of the complexity of the subject matter and the depth of the lessons, the course has strict requirements, including the following:
Applicants will be accepted based on their depth of technical experience with Analysis Services.
The three-day course will include several labs that intentionally provide very little guidance.
Upon completion of the course, attendees will be given a take-home exam project that they will need to complete within thirty (30) days.
Following the technical conference conventions defining 400-level sessions, this is a 500-level course. It is modeled after the MCM SQL certification program.
Additional Microsoft hosted SSAS Maestro training courses will be available in the near future. Check back on this site for updates. For questions or for a list of courses hosted by certified Maestro trainers, please email sqlmaestros@microsoft.com.

Meet the SSAS Maestros
Microsoft is building a significant community of SSAS Maestros. Those who hold this designation live and work in many countries and regions, including the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. All have varied backgrounds, interests, and extensive experience.
Consider connecting with these SSAS Maestros for help with your project. We add names regularly—so check back again for opportunities to connect with someone in your region.
Individuals have agreed to be listed here; therefore, the list may not represent the complete Maestro community.
