I've read the entire Mars Series, and today's screenwriters take their ideas from Burroughs, Heinlein, Asimove,E.E. Smith-the true visionaries. Mary Sawyer - May 10, 2013 Very goodHad watched the movie before reading this. The book is always better. Reader ReviewsWrite a Review Please sign in to write a review. Loading Failed to fetch page. People still claim 'John Carter' was a bad movie, but I don't think they know it's based on these books by Burroughs. I even learned some new vocabulary. All around great reading experience! Can't wait to get some more from this series! Renee Grove - April 28, 2013 An excellent read. Before it's time science fiction novel. Inspiration for Princess Leia of Star Wars maybe. Bill Keck - April 25, 2013 A classic on any worldI rate this book 5 stars and mean it. It is a classic book that anyone who can read will enjoy. Edgar Rice Burroughs is widely known for his Tarzan adventure books. However, he was first known for his Barsoom series in which John Carter of earth is teleported to Mars. Both series show what a great writer he is and why both series are classics of their individual genres. Tarzan being classic adventure while the Barsoom series is classic science fiction. shannon lewis - April 25, 2013 Amazing for the time periodI first saw the movie and want to impressed until I realized the original story was from 1905!
