In the words of the Judge for the Virginia Press Association's annual awards selections, "The First Amendment privilege carries a heavy responsibility; the Daily Press has strong shoulders.” Those strong shoulders dug deeply into a black market cigarette sting operation that collected millions and paid for SUVs, trips and training, yet resulted in no arrests or charges filed. The investigative series, however, netted the Daily Press the 2012 VPA Award for Journalistic Integrity and Service.

You can see them all on the Trib Nation website.
