A year later, detectives and widower seek answers in food-truck killing

More than a year has passed since 65-year-old Mireya María Alvarado was gunned down as she closed her food truck for the night, yet investigators are no closer to solving the killing.

Orange County Fire Rescue officials are investigating two separate hazmat incidents today -- one that forced an evacuation of a school in Winter Garden and the other that cleared a businesses in Winter Park.

A Florida man fleeing a traffic stop was attacked by an alligator Thursday, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Deputies attempted to pull Bryan Zuniga, 20, over for not driving in a single lane around 2:47 a.m. near the 7100 block of 78th Avenue North.
