Stocks rally hits April roadblock

HA NOI (VNS)— Despite being ranked among the world's fastest growing markets, Vietnamese stocks plunged steeply in April as more than US$2.4 billion was wiped from investors' accounts with large-cap shares suffering the biggest losses. Ha Noi to grant foreign home rights

HA NOI (VNS)— The Ha Noi People's Committee has agreed to grant certificates of land-use rights and house ownership, known in Viet Nam as a "red book", to overseas Vietnamese and foreigner home buyers. As of May 4 this year, eligible home buyers who meet all the necessary requirements will be able to obtain a red book to certify their home ownership and land-use rights. The Labour Code (revised), the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms, regulations regarding marriage involving foreign elements are among legal documents that took effect as of May 1. Chlorine employed to fight shrimp disease

CA MAU (VNS)— The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will provide 55 tonnes of chlorine to shrimp breeders in the southernmost province of Ca Mau to help prevent shrimp diseases. Statistics from the provincial Animal Health Department showed that nearly 4,400ha of shrimp farm have contracted diseases since early this year. HA NOI (VNS)— Ha Noi Market Watch seized nearly 1,100 frogs and over 600 mullet suspected of being illegally imported from China last week. The owner, Tran Thanh Lam, 32, of northern Hung Yen Province, failed to show documents to prove their origin.
