5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best pilot I have ever seen....
I have to say.... This one surprised me. I didn't really know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. It's funny. It's really f***ing funny. Only 10 minutes in and I was invested in the characters.
Avinash is so dead-on and hysterical.
I LOVE Hobbes. "Have you seen these robotic vaginas? .... Well, you will in 3-5 business days cuz I ordered one."
And...

3.0 out of 5 stars Entourage for Nerds... But that's not a bad thing
I've never actually watched Entourage, but I'm willing to bet that my initial reaction that this is "Entourage for nerds" is probably pretty right on. It's written both by people who know how nerds talk without pandering, and people who have watched quite a few sitcoms in the last ten years. There's honestly nothing super-duper special about the show, but I rather enjoy...

I LOVE Hobbes. "Have you seen these robotic vaginas? .... Well, you will in 3-5 business days cuz I ordered one."
And the Moby cameo is fantastic. "Did you ever f*** an octopus? I f***ed an octopus. That's why I'm a vegan now."
Really hoping to see more. What can I say.... It appeals to the mega-nerd in me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Characters are funny AND loveable, April 19, 2013
Too many comedies make their characters just caricatures, and push the comedy over a ledge. BETAS is funny AND the characters are people I cared about, I want to see them succeed while knowing they'll commit plenty of self-defeating laugh-your-ass-off mistakes. I want MORE!

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart and no pandering here..., April 19, 2013
What a great show. Love the character development. Love the writing. It's almost TOO smart for a mass crowd because most of the quick banter will go over most people's heads. Uses a lot of tech jargon. If they slow that down a bit, they'll grab a bigger audience. But I loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original, with a liberal dash of superbly written characters, April 21, 2013
So here was have a marvelous rarity; a "Geek Comedy" that isn't just a half an hour of pandering. This is pretty much exactly what Amazon should be creating with its studio, especially since it can honestly connect to the target audience.

Betas is a genuinely funny Pilot and though I don't know how long the central premise would carry a series the characters are solid, well thought out and frankly feel real. It's a testament to the writing that the cast could be developed as completely as they are in the space of 26 minutes. Add to that jokes that are smart, dirty and fast and all of the sudden the kind of Television that's been sadly lacking begins to take shape.

There is no talking down to the audience here, or carrying on tired old tropes. The tired awkward courtship thing at the core of so many other TV shows is turned inside out in about 15 minutes. It's a very clever take that introduces us to a strong female character who now has more to do in the show than be hopelessly pined at. I'd tune in to this on a regular basis, no question. I'd even spend the money I was saving for that robotic vagina...

5.0 out of 5 stars Jon Daly is a comic Genius, April 22, 2013
The show has a solid cast, an interesting premise and features some veterans of comedy in the pilot. The pilot has some great laughs. Jon Daly is an underrated comedian and I want this show to continue to watch his performance. Excited to see this picked up. That's my two cents.

At first I was against hipster programmers and stories that have been done before but I was impressed. Nice to see Ed Begley Jr. and Moby.. Once Moby said the octopus line I was hooked. Great production all around. I would totaly watch more of this show.. Please let me know when it starts it's season.

5.0 out of 5 stars Took me by surprise, April 19, 2013
I'm watching all the Amazon Pilots that look even a little interesting, and this is the first one that made me feel compelled to write a review -- it's really good. Like, really, really good. I didn't expect a lot going in, but it was really funny and full of likeable characters that are flawed in compelling ways. Even the Jon Daly character, the most traditionally crazy character (and definitely the funniest), wasn't just wacky in a one-note way. I really want to see more of him, and more of everybody else too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Pilot, April 19, 2013
I would definitely like to see more episodes of Beta. It was very funny, and the characters are very likable. If you work with programmers like i do this show seems to capture the different (sometimes socially awkward) personalities perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharp and witty, April 22, 2013
Betas is a humorous, well-written take on the struggle to start a revolutionary social networking site. The characters were introduced well and the cast played off each other marvelously. I'd be excited for Amazon to pick this show up.

5.0 out of 5 stars surprisingly good, April 22, 2013
I actually enjoyed the entire episode. I was hooked in the first few minutes and hope it continues. Ed Begley Jr was great as was Moby. As for the character I empathize with Nash.
