NICE guidance for the public

We produce versions of our clinical guidance written for the public. These versions summarise the recommendations that we make to health and other professionals in simple, non-medical language. They should be used alongside other sources of patient information that explain conditions and treatments in detail. Most of the documents contain contact information for relevant patient or carer organisations that can provide detailed information and support for specific conditions. They are not designed to replace discussion with a healthcare professional.

All of the treatment and care we recommend follows the principles set out in the NHS Constitution. Find out more about care in the NHS. Additional information about particular conditions and services can be found on NHS Choices.

NICE has been awarded The Information Standard quality mark, which we can display on information for the public published since 2009 as a mark of quality and reassurance for the public.

The search below will take to you the versions of our guidance written for the public. You can also see the guidance documents for healthcare and other professionals.
