The Buzz: TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski's newest science-fiction undertaking has been in development for 5+ years, and his hotly anticipated return to the genre doubles as Tom Cruise's only 2013 release. We're most looking forward to how Kosinski has visualized a universe separate from the affairs of Kevin Flynn. Adding layers to the welcome intrigue is screenwriter William Monahan, best known for turning the very Eastern Infernal Affairs into the Western hit The Departed, and a support cast featuring two Oscar winners, the second hottest guy from "Game of Thrones," a former Bond Girl, and W.E. survivor Andrea Riseborough (who is excellent in the will-it-ever-be-released-in-the-U.S. Shadow Dancer).

Certificate R   -   Horror | Thriller

Metascore: 59/100 (19 reviews)
Heidi, a radio DJ, is sent a box containing a record -- a "gift from the Lords." The sounds within the grooves trigger flashbacks of her town's violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the Lords back to take revenge on Salem, Massachusetts?

The Buzz: A polarizing Rob Zombie film is not a bad thing, especially when its believers liken it to the work of Kenneth Anger and Roman Polanski. Seems as though Zombie has shifted gears in a way that also aligns with Ti West's pacing with The Innkeepers and The House of the Devil, so people who want more of RZ's cartoon-horror psychedelia might want to pass on his latest. And genre purists who think Zombie is a complete hack based on his prior body of work might be intrigued by the presence of icons Judy Geeson, Pat Quinn, and Dee Wallace playing nefarious relatives.

Certificate R   -   Drama | Music

Metascore: 51/100 (4 reviews)
A promising hip-hop rhymer from Los Angeles finds herself in a gray area when a record producer offers her a compromising shot at stardom.

The Buzz: Something tells me a relatively big opening weekend awaits this life-affirming, rhyme-soaked drama for which star Gina Rodriguez has earned strong reviews. It's the kind of story that Pantelion Films -- the distributor that proclaims itself to be the first major Latino studio in Hollywood and has an output deal with Lionsgate -- will know just how to market effectively.

Certificate R   -   Mystery | Thriller

Metascore: 74/100 (17 reviews)
A sixteen-year-old boy insinuates himself into the house of a fellow student from his literature class and writes about it in essays for his French teacher. Faced with this gifted and unusual pupil, the teacher rediscovers his enthusiasm for his work, but the boy's intrusion will unleash a series of uncontrollable events.

The Buzz: A voyeuristic thriller that features plenty of sex and a peep behind the curtains and under the covers of a seemingly perfect family - seen from the perspective of a young writer who wields a pen and paper instead of a laptop? With Kristin Scott Thomas also observing from the margins? By all appearance, this seems to be one of writer/director François Ozon's art-house breakthroughs.
