Laura J. Martin, MD

Laura J. Martin, MD, is a consultant for WebMD. As an assistant professor of medicine at Emory University School of Medicine she practices internal medicine and teaches medical students and residents.

She obtained her medical degree at Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans and completed her residency in internal medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. After completing her residency she entered a private practice in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. for several years. She then returned to Atlanta where she now continues to practice academic medicine at Emory University.

Dr. Martin has developed an ambulatory medicine curriculum and has served as coordinator of ambulatory medicine conferences at Emory University. She is co-editor of the medical textbook entitled Ambulatory Medicine Casebook. She has taught courses in alternative medicine, medical ethics, and palliative care. She serves on the ethics committee at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Dr. Martin currently is participating in developing a palliative care curriculum at Emory University and is a palliative care consultant at Grady Memorial Hospital. She is a participant in The Program in Palliative Care Education & Practice at Harvard Medical School.

She is board-certified in internal medicine, has a master's degree in public health, and is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Society of General Internal Medicine.
