Look Who's Talking

Early voice-acting in video games was performed by the developers themselves, or by unknown bit players, but game makers eventually realized the value of professional, big-name talent. As actors like Michael Ironside and Jennifer Hale became as well-known for their video game voice work as for their on-screen acting, Hollywood took notice. In 2005, two actors' organizations threatened to strike against the game industry. Although publishers still do not disburse residual payments, the standard fee for voice work in games was substantially increased. With the controversy settled, gamers can continue to enjoy big-screen caliber vocalizations as they endeavor through their small-screen adventures.
