The National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), a constituent laboratory of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) are jointly organising the National Conference on Nanoscience and Technology-2013 (NANO INDIA-2013) during February 19 - 20.
The conference is organised every year as part of the Nano Mission programme. Prof C N R Rao, Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister, will inaugurate the conference at 11 am on Tuesday. Dr Suresh Das, Director, CSIR- NIIST, will preside over the function.
Nano research is one of the globally pursued frontier areas of contemporary research expected to influence a wide range of products and processes with far-reaching implications for national economy and development. The major objective of Nano India-2013 is to provide an exposure for scientists and students to the latest developments in nanoscience and nanotechnology research.
The conference will feature three plenary talks and 21 invited lectures by eminent scientists working in various institutes and universities in India. Around 500 delegates are expected.
The sessions will cover important areas in nanoscience and technology such as healthcare applications of oxide functional nanostructures, light matter interactions at nanoscale, optical and electronic properties of semiconductor nanomaterials, molecular DNA devices in living systems and agro-nanobiotech in India.
The conference is also expected to address some of the issues related to the ever-increasing pollution and environmental damage in Kerala.
