Proposal & Award Cycle

Sponsored Programs

Limited Submissions

Limited submission programs are those for which funding agencies restrict the number of nominations or proposals a university may submit for consideration for an award. The University of Georgia, therefore, must internally screen all eligible and interested nominees to determine which will represent the university.

CAUTION: Never assume you will be allowed to submit a proposal to a sponsor requiring a limit to UGA submissions if you have not gone through an internal vetting and selection process, or been told in writing by OVPR officials that you are cleared to submit your proposal.

Please visit the “Limited Submissions” section of the Research Newsletter to view a list of current limited submission competitions. Please note: This list is neither exclusive nor exhaustive, since new programs are developed and existing programs change. If a UGA researcher intends to submit for a limited submission program not on this list, he/she must contact Lynda Abernathy at abernath@uga.edu or  706-542-5969.

Information and documents required by OVPR are listed for each internal competition and may vary among competitions. Unless stated otherwise, all required documentation should be submitted electronically (preferably as a .pdf) to abernath@uga.edu by the posted deadline.

It is the responsibility of the researcher and nominating body to ensure that all eligibility guidelines are met prior to submission for internal review by the OVPR.

Every effort will be made to maintain current and accurate information within this list; however, the awarding agency’s posted information remains the final authority.

For limited submission proposals requiring institutional support, faculty should not attempt to secure such support unless and until their proposal is selected to go forward on behalf of the University.

If you have any questions, please contact Lynda Abernathy at abernath@uga.edu or 706-542-5969.
