Special Interest Groups

Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

Our Special Interest Groups are a very popular benefit of membership in the OLLI@UGA community. It’s a great way to make new friends and socialize with people with similar interests. There is no additional fee to join any or all of the groups, and attendance is always optional. Some groups meet on a regular basis at the same time and place. Other groups, like Opera, get together for specific events. Some groups do both.

As the number of SIGs has grown, we’ve made a very general grouping of them into 4 categories: Hand, Head, Full Body and Just for Fun. Most of the groups could fit into several categories – for example, bridge playing uses your head to plan, your hands to hold the cards, and it’s lot of fun- so we struggled with where to put it! You will likely want to look at all the descriptions. But, to get started, please click a category below.

This will lead you to more information about the groups in the category and a little about their activities. Click here to see the list of all SIGs.

We’re always eager to add new SIGs. If you have an idea for a group you would like to champion, please contact Carolyn Abney at CCAbney@gmail.com or 404-457-7444 (cell).
