Participating in OLLI Trips

  • Release, Waiver of LiabilityWhen you register for an OLLI trip, we will email you a waiver/liability form specific to that trip. You will have a number of options of how to fill it out and submit to the OLLI office or bring to the embarkation point of your trip. If a waiver form for that trip is not on file as you embark on the trip, the trip coordinator will ask you to sign the waiver at that time. This is a requirement for all OLLI Travel/Study trips.
  • Level of Physical Activity – The Travel/Study Committee will make every effort in its description of a trip to explain exactly what level of physical activity will be needed, so you may judge whether the trip is suitable for you. One of the measures we use is that used by Road Scholar of 5 levels of physical requirements. These Physical Activity Levels are:
  1. Easy – You can expect a minimum level of physical activity – minimal walking and limited stairs
  2. Moderate – This might include walking up to a mile a day and/or standing in a museum for a few hours
  3. Active – To participate fully in these experiences, you must be able to walk as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic attractions or nature trails.
  4. Moderately Challenging – If you enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of your days on the go, you’ll be comfortable on these trips.
  5. Challenging – These demanding – and rewarding – programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Suggesting or Planning Trips

OLLI has a Travel/Study Committee which meets approximately 10 times a year. Members suggest trips to interesting destinations. They do initial research to develop an itinerary with costs, and then they present this information to the committee. The committee coordinates details as the trip develops through promotion, registration and operation of the trip itself.

Your suggestions for OLLI trips will always be welcome. There is a much stronger possibility that your suggestion will become a reality if you will help us to plan and coordinate your suggested trip, even if it is the only trip in which you wish to become involved. To suggest a trip, fill out the “Suggestions for Travel/Study Trips” document and send to Joan Zitzelman at jzitzel@bellsouth.net. Also, if you have questions about Travel/Study, contact Joan Zitzelman at 706-546-6345 or jzitzel@bellsouth.net.
