With the College of Environment and Design moving into the Jackson Street Building (formerly the visual arts building), the CED got a home where the design and environment is well-suited for its mission. The moment was at last properly marked at an Aug. 15, 2012 ceremony when the university hosted a celebration of Early’s graduation in the same auditorium where she turned her graduation tassel 50 years ago. It has been my pleasure and privilege to present this report, required by University Council statute, every January since I arrived here in the summer of 1997. It is a time to reflect on the events of the previous year but, more importantly, focus our gaze on the coming years. ... continue

Meet Dr. Adams

<pDr. Michael F. Adams was named the 21st president of the University of Georgia on June 11, 1997. He immediately focused on securing UGA’s future as one of America’s premier public research universities. Under Dr. Adams’ leadership, student quality has risen steadily and the University of Georgia has been recognized as one of the nation’s top 20 public research universities for eight out of the past 10 years by U.S. News & World Report.

The college will draw faculty from UGA’s Faculty of Engineering, which was established in 2001 and received institute status with degree-granting privileges in 2003, and from the department of biological and agricultural engineering, which has been part of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
