It’s the Australian Cinematographers Society’s acclaimed coffee table book The Shadowcatchers: 288pages and 380 great photographs from the history of Australian cinematography. The text combines anecdotes, biographies and cinema history; the pictures, selected on the basis of photographic merit, portray both historical greats and the less known: cinematographers, of course, but also directors, well-loved actors, boom swingers, ADs, soundies, stunties, gaffers, grips, continuity, make-up, etc., working on News, Docos, TV, Feature Films, TVCs and everything in between.
The Shadowcatchers has had rave reviews and there are only a limited number of the Standard Edition copies still available. National ACS President (and Santa Claus) Ron Johanson sees the success of the book as a tribute to the collective strength and unity of the Society’s membership, a large number of whom contributed directly to the creation and distribution of The Shadowcatchers.
