STD-related Reproductive Health, Prevention, Training, and Technical Assistance Centers (STDRHPTTACs)
Overview
CDC, in collaboration with the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), supports a national network of regional STD-related Reproductive Health, Prevention, Training, and Technical Assistance Centers (STDRHPTTACs) that provide technical assistance and training to state, local, territorial, and tribal STD and Title X Family Planning programs to strengthen program management and delivery of STD services and improve quality of reproductive-health-related STD services.
Goals
The goals of this network are to address these shared CDC objectives:
- Reduce pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) (as measured by initial visits to physicians) in women 15-44
- Reduce the prevalence of gonorrhea in women aged 15-44 years
- Reduce incidence of P&S syphilis among women
- Reduce incidence of congenital syphilis
- Reduce the racial disparity of P&S syphilis
Key Activities
The key activities of the STDRHPTTACs include:
- STD Prevalence Monitoring- support the implementation, use, and evaluation of prevalence monitoring at the state, local, territorial, or tribal level.
- Billing and Reimbursement Technical Assistance - support the implementation, use, and evaluation of implementing third-party billing and reimbursement systems in STD prevention services in clinics and family planning facilities.
- Strategic planning - convene STD programs, family planning, and other interested parties to discuss and advance ongoing issues regarding adolescent and women’s STD-related reproductive health services, including infertility prevention.
- Provider Education Training - Provide training and technical assistance to state, local, territorial, and tribal STD and Title X family planning programs to educate health care providers and consumers about STDs, including prevention strategies, risk factors, prevalence rates, screening and treatment recommendations, and STD disparities; and promote health equity and the benefits of program collaboration and service integration.
- Best Practices - identify, disseminate and support implementation and adaptation of promising and/or best practices and evidence-based approached to improve management and quality of STD-related reproductive health prevention services.
