CDC's 2012 Yellow Book Online and In Print

Did you know . . . ?

CDC’s Health Information for International Travel 2012 Is Now Available!

Every two years, CDC publishes CDC Health Information for International Travel, commonly known as the "Yellow Book." The Yellow Book has become a trusted reference for health care providers and travelers worldwide. This book offers an in-depth look at health risks and ways to prevent them, advice for people with special travel health needs, and more. It is written primarily for health care providers, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, who give pre-travel health care. However, the travel industry, multinational corporations, missionary and volunteer organizations, and people who vacation abroad also find the Yellow Book an excellent resource.

Topics in the 2012 Yellow Book include:

  • Information about the pre-travel consultation
  • Updated vaccine requirements and recommendations
  • Information about malaria risk and prevention
  • Updated disease risk maps
  • Water disinfection, animal-associated hazards, and counterfeit drugs abroad
  • Injuries and safety
  • Study abroad, travel for humanitarian aid, and medical tourism
  • Travel health and evacuation insurance
  • Specific health insights about popular tourist destinations and itineraries
  • Recommendations about traveling with infants and children
  • Advising travelers with specific needs, such as those with chronic medical conditions or weakened immune systems
  • Health considerations for newly arrived adoptees, immigrants, and refugees
